Suspesion.....change school?

I've recently got suspended from university for cheating (I am freshman now and I got 1 semester suspension). My school is one of top 10 school in nation.

my goal is to go to a top grad school in engineering, but I am very very concerned about my record.

Is it possible to enter top grad school in egineering with this record? or do you guys think that it is wise for me to change university to erase the record and start new?

You won’t be able to erase your record. Grad schools require transcripts from ALL colleges attended, and they do ask if you’ve ever been on probation/suspension. Don’t be tempted to lie. The fact that it happened in your freshman year is much better than if it had happened later in your academic career; however, you’re still going to have to bear the consequences of those actions. When you go back, work your butt off. Get to know professors. Demonstrate that you are both trustworthy and intellectually capable. LORs are always important, but, in your case, they will be critical.

I agree with Mom - the only way to “erase the record” is by cheating again, which just compounds your problems. As long as you demonstrate exceptional integrity from now on you should be able to recover from this. If not you will be out on your ear, and will get little sympathy on these forums.

Momwaitingfornew thanks for your advice.

I did not realize that grad school require all transcript from all universities I’ve attended.
That means I am going back to univesity I attended, because you know what I do not want lie again in my life…

By the way what does LOR stands for?

Letter of recommendation.

Not all grad schools require you to tell them if you have been suspended or placed on probation. If it falls off your transcript after a certain period of time (eg. one year without further infractions), you are in the clear when you apply for grad school.
