how many of you wear sweats to class on a regular basis? And why, aren't jeans just as comfortable? Do girls wear them a lot? Do you wear them year round, and doesnt it get hot?

I prefer jeans to sweats; they're plenty comfortable and this way I don't look like I just rolled out of bed 5 minutes ago.

I prefer to wear sweats or jogging pants to class. I don't have many jeans, and don't like the tightness of them and feel like I have some limited mobility. I have more sweats than jeans, and they're easy to throw on after a shower.

But then again my major is Kinesiology, so I'm in a lot of Phys Ed, Human Performance, Fitness, etc., classes. Changing from jeans to shorts back to jeans before/after class is too much of a hassle when I can just wear sweats with shorts underneath

it's like taping a sign that says "I am too lazy to make an effort at being even minimally presentable" to your back, but worse

I wear jeans more, but I definitely understand the appeal of sweats. When I'm tired or my body hurts from a workout the day before, I'll just throw on sweats. They are more comfortable than jeans, and I don't understand how some people think they are the same. But, to each their own. They're nice and warm in the winter, and I don't wear them when it's warm outside. Oh, and I'm a girl.

I'm a dance major and sweats save my life some days. Jeans over top of other clothes don't work all the time and when I have 20 minutes to get across campus from a dance class to a gen ed I don't have the time to change completely so throwing sweats on over my dance clothes is the perfect solution. Plus school is in Chicago and it's freezing, jeans are just too cold sometimes.

Even if I didn't have to wear uniforms every day to class, I doubt I would wear sweats.
They are typically for working out and don't look nearly as professional as even jeans.
I guess I have it easier than all of you people struggling with all of these hard decisions...

haha Jack, do you know anything about college?

Sweats can be a lifesaver.

If your sweatpants and your jeans are equally comfortable, then there's something wrong with your sweatpants ;)

On the rare occasions that I did wear sweats to class, I didn't do it because I'd rolled out of bed five minutes earlier. I was showered and neat, but I had some reason that I really wanted to be extra-comfy. Usually, the reason was finals! Sometimes, it was just a gross, drizzly day and I had a cold, other times I'd have a nighttime class followed by rehearsals that went until midnight. Sometimes, people are coming to or from PE courses with no chance to change. Regardless, wearing a particular item of clothing, be it sweatpants or jeans, doesn't automatically make someone any more or less 'presentable.'

At many schools, the most important point is that no one cares either way. Talk about a waste of effort, worrying about whether the kid across from you did or didn't wake up more than ten minutes ago...

It's worth noting that I went to school in SoCal, where it was acceptable to go pretty much anywhere in sweatpants and flip-flops. I have friends at schools in the southeast and the northeast who've been totally baffled by this.

Must be the sweats that kept me from getting amazing rec letters for a great internship this summer. I shower before I go to class, I don't just roll out of bed. I just happen to find sweats and jogging pants much more comfortable than jeans. I wear khakis at one of my jobs, and when traveling for the other job we have to dress up so I wear nice jeans or khakis. At one of my jobs we're running around a football field, setting up practice drills, running, catching, and throwing footballs, doing laundry, etc. and I have to be there immediately after class. Makes sense to wear shorts and sweats to class than wear jeans and spend time getting ready for practice when I could be at work already.

I usually wear jeans but when you're just having one of those days (girls you know what I'm talking about) sometimes the jeans just don't fit right and sweats are immeasurably more comfortable. I don't make a habit out of it, but sometimes it's just good to be able to relax. Someone else also mentioned finals; if I've been up til 4 am studying for a final at 9 am there's definitely going to be some "roll out of bed, brush hair and teeth, put on comfiest thing I can find" going on.

If you do not exercise regularly and/or overweight do not wear sweats.

Clothes that stretch unconsciously makes you think you have room to "fill" your pants/shirt.

i love wearing sweats.. i just wish it didnt make me feel like a bum. my class schedule makes it hard to make me wanna get dressed mon/wed/fri. only two classes each day, one at 10 and one and 2. i take an amazing nap between them and sometimes tkae a shower the night before so i cnat sleep later.

if im gonna be back in my room in an hour sleeping why should i get all dressed? but days i know im gonna be on main campus alot i do get dressed well. i love dressing up.. but its just really hard to force yourself when i want as much sleep as possible and take naps

and finals/midterms.. DEFINETLY wear sweatpants without a doubt. or the day a big paper is due usually applies too cause your always up the night before finishing it

Sweats are a necessity in some classes, like acting, dance, or PE. However, I spent a semester changing from sweats after acting to jeans for a technical direction class. Jeans are just sturdier.
