Sweet Briar College: What the $#@%?!

LOL…never heard of this college, but now that I’ve looked into it, it’s rather nice! (and it’s colors are pink and green, which works with the “rose” theme).

This whole argument is seriously ridiculous. The letter was pink! Get over it already.

If OP hasn’t gotten over it 7 years after the fact…

Nah, OP still mad.

Lack of boys? That is a common misperception. The guys at UVa, Hampton Sidney, Washington & Lee etc used to come to Sweet Briar on weekends for Boathouse parties all the time. Several groups from Harvard, Colgate etc. visited for special events. Concerts were well attended by lots of young men. The guys were always rather intrigued with us, as we were considered quite special (Me? I am a Sweet Briar grad, attorney, published author, happily married). I enjoyed my time at Sweet Briar very much - the campus is stunning and quite safe (unlike many other schools), and my professors were superb. I went to William and Mary for graduate school. It was good too, but quite honestly, I much preferred Sweet Briar. Years later, I still have many good friends from Sweet Briar (and from Hollins, a friendly rival). A large part of my class (including me) went abroad junior year, which was a wonderful experience. A lot of us went to grad school (my class includes surgeons, attorneys, investment bankers, Wall Street pension fund managers, authors, etc - turned out to be a very accomplished group). Many of these alums have a lot of passion for this school and are intent on seeing it survive and thrive. If I could do it all over, I wouldn’t change much, except I would take better advantage of some of the hiking/outdoor trips that are available - that is a gorgeous part of the country. Note: Sweet Briar at present is the victim of some rather poor administrators, but hopefully the school will get back on track in the very near future.
