hahaha, that's really funny

Actually alot of schools have a swim test requirement - so you at Dartmouth are nt alone by any means.

Wow, how silly.

I can understand having PE requirments - but swimming? Who doesn't know how to swim, or at least float? I'd probably just end up embarrassing myself. I can get from one end of a pool to another, yes, but I was never taught proper stroke etiquette, so when I swim (and I haven't in years), it's very splashy and slow.

What if it's against my morals to show my skin? Can I swim in pants and a T-shirt?

i can't swim. i can't ride a bike. i can't whistle. i don't think i had a childhood...

I heard the swim test had something to do with a wealthy persons child having drowned resulting in large contributions of money to a number of universities if they would require swimming to graduate.

that's what I heard.

Kalidescope - i heard the same thing! something about someone's kid dying on the titantic...i'm not sure though

taurustorus - i can't swim or whistle or snap my fingers. lol

That's the same story they tell at Harvard along with the condition that they serve ice cream on sunday

and the funding for their library

i can't swim in my life, but i CAN whistle.. boy, do i feel special LOL

yea.. i'm a bit worried about the swim test, too. 50 yards might not be that big of a deal to some people, but for a non-swimmer like me, it'll be a torture!
