What are the general requirements to get on the swim team? I saw the meet results, they are amazing. I'm much slower than that (50 free - 24.8, 100 free - 53.8) but I've heard that the team is bigger than just those who go to the meets. Do you think I might be able to make the team, and if so, what are the general practice hours and the length in terms of time and yards?

Are those the only requirements??!?!?!

HOLY CRAP!!!! I CAN MAKE THE TEAM!!!

...are you serious by the way?!?!?!

by the way... are those times for men or women?

no those are my times )) you are tripping out
the times on the meets are like 20-21 for the 50, and 50 or lower for the 100

i'm a guy )

Are those Yard or Meter times. If it's SCY then it's easy, if it's LCM, then it's crazy hard...

However, I am rejected by Cornell already, so meh... Stupid not to apply for athletic recruit...

those are SCY I believe. And i find those times to be very fast, but then again i'm no great swimmer myself.

Oh lol :o

nuts!

(SCY) 100 free 51.62, 50 free 24.1, 200 free 1:56.0 (yea, not exactly a distance swimmer :p), 500 free 5:14

100 back 1:02.3 200 back 2:14.1
100 fly 1:01.5 200 fly NT :p
200 IM 2:16.1

And... for the grand finale...

100 breast, 1:22.70

Yes, I AM that bad at breastroke

I am going up to Cornell next week and meeting with the coach so I can ask. I am a girl so obviously it's going to be different, but I can get a general idea since usually boys and girls workout pretty much the same amount.

h2oqtcari
Could you ask for the guys too?

CollegeHereI_Come
Dude you're fast at the 100 but not the 50 ) Very odd

Still the question remains... what are the cuts?

Fast dive isn't my thing, and it affects me a bit more in a 50.

Other guys on my team have similar 50/100 times, like 21.0 and 44.1, or 22.2 and 47.9

lol...58 100 FR, 26 50 FR, 1:14 100 BR

Swimmings not my thing though. I'm hoping to try out for the water polo team...thats my sport (despite being so slow and only 5'11'' and 160 lbs)

Hmm, I thought Cornell didn't have a water polo team

They don't have a varsity, but they have a club team

Hey Sorry, April is a dead period for swimming, which means the Cornell coaches can't talk to the swimmers at all. Kinda sucks when you are trying to make a decision on where to go but w/e. Does anyone know how intense the practice schedule is????
