I’m not a student at American U yet but I intend to be next year. I’ll take the JD program and I was wondering if it was possible for me to switch colleges after 1 year and go to another university.

And do you know what the AU juris doctor program is worth?

It seems to me, that if you’re pursuing a JD, you should decide what college works best for you and plan on staying there. I don’t know of many people that transfer between law schools (but I could be wrong) .

I’ll be a grad student. The thing is that my university in France has an exchange program with American U but since it’s not very well ranked, I’d like to do one year there and then go to NYU.

I see. I think you would do best to post your questions on CC’s Law School forum, where people will have more of a handle on transfer possibilities and can offer an assessment of the Washington College of Law. This forum is more focused on AU as an undergraduate school

As a lawyer, I can tell you that the first year of law school is so demanding and so different from other studies you may have undertaken that there is no guarantee you can earn the kind of grades that would gain you acceptance to NYU. You shouldn’t consider attending AU’s law school unless you would be content to complete the program there.
