Hello guys!
I hope everybody is doing fine.
I’m currently taking my last quarter at De Anza College and I want to transfer to UCSD for next Fall 2020. On my UC application, I selected Physics as my major and Data Science as my alternate major, but I recently decided that it would be better to declare Data Science as my major and probably do a minor in physics.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
I tried contacting the Admissions Office but they’re probably too busy at this time to reply.
Thank you very much for your help, stay safe!
Are you a Freshman or Transfer?
My bad, I’m a transfer student
Will you have the required courses for both majors completed at the time of transfer? You will not be able to switch now during the application process. You will have to wait to be accepted and then try to change majors.
From the UCSD website:
** Generally, we do not advise transfer students who have matriculated as a different major to attempt to switch into the data science major through the capped major application process. This is due to the additional screening process that would add to transfer students’ time to graduation, without a guarantee of acceptance into the major.
