I'm a prospective senior applying to UPenn CAS for Regular Decision. To current students and people who know about this, how easy is it to switch majors once I get there? I have a major in mind that I'm passionate about so I'm not doing undecided, but I want to leave myself a back door just in case I find that I don't like it.

Based on the other threads I've seen, I need to point out that I'm not trying to game the system by applying to an easy school and switching into Wharton or SEAS. I'm 100% doing CAS.

I don’t think you need to even DECLARE a major until the end of your soph year in CAS. And even if you do, to switch is a matter of managing the required classes in your alternative major. Besides special cases like Wharton, most colleges don’t admit to majors in the USA.

You’re not on any set schedule that’s based on any major once you are here. Many people here take classes their freshman year that ultimately serve little more in terms of graduation requirements than filling an elective because they end up switching. It’s a quick and painless process to actually switch majors so I wouldn’t worry about that too much.
