How easy is it to switch majors once you’re admitted? Would the university have a problem with someone switching from A.B to B.S.E?
It’s very straightforward. My son did it over the summer by filling out a form and writings short essay about his interest in engineering.
The engineering department will also review your preparation - you need math and physics to be successful and if you don’t have these they will discourage you from making that change.
True but they aren’t pedantic about having particular tests to prove it. My son hadn’t done the SAT maths subject test but was able to explain that he still felt his maths preparation was adequate and he was accepted.
That is correct. By preparation I meant high school or AP math and physics. This is a good policy - many students come into Princeton engineering with extensive math and physics backgrounds and the courses move quickly…without adequate preparatory courses students are unlikely to be successful. My son found the adjustment tough at first but as a BSE senior now loves the challenge.
