Switching Majors?

Is it easy to switch between majors as a entering freshman or a freshman on campus at USC? My intended major was Biomedical Engineering but I'm now leaning towards Business Management (which was my 2nd choice of major)...

And if I decide to stay with BME and end up not liking it, can I switch while in school?

Hey, I’m in the same situation as you - was accepted as a Computer Science (Games) major in Viterbi, but I too decided to change to Business (albeit with an emphasis in International Relations). You can definitely switch to business while enrolled at USC, but it’s somewhat competitive (according to their site, [USC Marshall Undergraduate Program Admissions Internal Major Applicant](http://www.marshall.usc.edu/undergradprogram/admissions/admissions-internal-major-applicant.htm), the acceptance rate for spring 2009 internal transfers was 45%), so you’ll want a high GPA. You may be able to email USC about switching majors and they might consider you for business already, as that’s what happened to me. I emailed them regarding their Business/IR dual degree program, asking what could I do if I wanted to enroll in the program as soon as possible, and they responded by saying they will consider me for their business program and I should be getting a response mid-May.

oh dang… so should i use UC Connect to contact them or what…

If I applied undecided but decide I want to major in something business related before enrolling can I do that or does anybody know what the process is? Additionally when do you select a major normally if you apply undecided and does your major need to be in CLAS

Bump, any1 have an answer?

Well, when I contacted USC about switching to their Business/Int’l Relations program, I emailed them at busadm@marshall.usc.edu. I advise you email that address and ask if you could request to enroll in their Business program. If that doesn’t work out you could ask to change at Orientation. If that doesn’t work out either you could always switch during the year. Your major doesn’t need to be in CLAS but it’s MUCH easier to change to a major that’s in your school rather than switching to an entire other school. You have to apply and get evaluated - they could even reject you too, if your GPA isn’t high.
