<p>I already applied to one university with the Common App, and I'm planning on applying to Rice. My original essay on the Common App fits the perspective essay prompt in the supplement, but the Common App says to not write different essays for each university. Do you guys think it would be a big deal if I switched my Common App essay?</p>
<p>I do not know and do not understand why it is a big deal. Universities I applied to ask for supplemental essays and I have been switching two essays depending on the prompts. Each universities will read both essays either in the common app or supplemental. Common appl should not make it that regid.</p>
<p>YOu should be able to. I updated mine midway because I improved it.</p>
<p>You can’t change your common app after you submitted it already. I learned the hard way.</p>
<p>@blizzap – you can actually create new versions of the common app once you have already submitted it to a different school</p>
