Switching out of construction engineering management to civil engineering???

Hello everyone and sorry of this is too long,
I recently go accepted into CSU Long Beach as a construction engineering management major as a transfer student (3.7 GPA), but I have recently had feelings to switch to civil engineering. I would have to spend the first year at CSULB to catch up on on prerequisite classes (Calc 2 & 3, Gen Chem A, Calc-based Physics). I just wanted to be a civil engineer because it opens up more job opportunities/higher pay, and the design/analysis seems pretty interesting. However the difficulty of civil and the impacted schedule (multiple difficult classes in a semster) is on another level compared to construction. Should I bite the bullet and do civil engineering and possibly come out with a less desirable GPA? Or should I stick to construction engineering management, get good grades, graduate early, and be able to have enough time/energy to do internships or join a related club on campus that competes in design-build projects.
I am going to talk to an advisor to see if I can get into the CE program form CEM. If so I will spend this summer trying to do Calc 2 in 8 weeks online (I did Calc 1 online in 16 weeks and got an A) and teaching myself Prep Chem so I can jump into Gen Chem A when the semester starts.
Can anyone help me weigh in on this decision, and I know that at the end of the day it all comes down to “you get what you put in.”
Also does anyone know how much entry-level construction management jobs will make you with interships and great GPA?

Thanks for reading this mess of questions and have a good day!

Do what you want to do. Speak to your advisors and make sure it’s possible, get organized and committed and then dive in if they say you can. As @boneh3ad is fond of quoting, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
