Hey everybody! I've been virtual schooled for most of my life (1st through 7th grade), and I decided during my 8th grade year to leap from the virtual world, skip a grade, and attend the IB program at my local high school. I enjoyed IB at first and thought it was an amazing program, but recently, even as just a freshman, IB has already started to, at times, become a place where I tend to stress out quite a bit, me being a perfectionist (Those who have done IB understand this completely). I joined IB because I thought that it would be different from the other aspects of public schools I had previously observed. However, as someone who grasps things easily, I find the busywork pointless as a lot of the concepts that are visited in said work, I've already understood and could study on my time (which I do). Let's just say that the stress and busywork has really gotten to me, even as a freshman, and a place that I thought would be filled with intellectuals, is mostly filled with kids that could care less. So I've made the decision to head back home and virtual school as to take AP classes and focus on preparing for college study in Foreign Relations, which is my passion. I want to be able to attend a prestigious school like Georgetown or Princeton as my state (Wyoming) does not offer any courses in Foreign Relations. I want to know, how bad will it reflect on my applications that I switched over to AP after realizing the IB wasn't for me? Should I strongly consider staying in because of this? As far as GPA goes, I'm at a 4.0 unweighted, and my school does not calculate for weighted GPA so I'm blind in that department.
