Switching Sports and Notifying Colleges

I am a senior that already has applied to colleges .

Last baseball season, I injured my shoulder pitching. After a summer of not being able to play, I found out that I needed surgery to fix the injury. Being in the middle of my senior cross country season, I opted out of having the surgery until after the season was over. I had the surgery right before Thanksgiving, but the recovery process has taken longer than expected and I won't be able to play this year. Instead, I have decided to do long distances in track because I've had success with running.

In my original application, I listed that I would be doing baseball. Do I still need to e-mail all of my colleges (UCs + Ivies) about the switch? Should I just give them a brief statement or write something elaborate?

Thanks in advance.

To be honest, I reallllyy dont think it matters at all

When you did your original application, you WERE going to play baseball. Circumstances changed, no big deal. For the rare school that actually follows up and asks you about it, simply tell them the truth and they will appreciate that you made lemonade out of a lemon. Unless you were expecting to be recruited as a college baseball player, leave it alone.
