Sympathy/Angst Thread

I’m worst than being waitlisted to a State University. I got rejected to most of my state universities that I applied to since this year was more competitive.

I only got into St Johns University and some CUNYs.

I hate stupid guidance counselors!!! Gahhhhh

^^^Eeesh! I’m worried about fit for a similar reason. If the average stats of a school I might end up attending are anything like the averages of my high school, I would be really worried about the population. The last thing I want in college is a repeat of high school. Many of the students I have come across are so intolerant and ignorant, and it would be hellish to have to go through all that again…

^^^ Saint Johns is really great actually.

That really sucks, I’m sorry. Is there any other place?

Yeah. I got accepted into UW-Madison, but I didn’t put in this much work just for that. That sounds terrible, but there are some people at my school who got in who really kind of doing nothing. Along with that, I know SO many people at UW-Madison, it’s like an extension of high school (@drpvv - I know how you feel). I want college to be new. Exciting. UW-Madison is just not that.

Cody2010: Except, I will need at least a 4.0 in college with rigorous courses and great amount of studying to transfer to a good school. My SAT verbal score was sub average.

I’m looking into Binghamton, BU, BC, and maybe GWU.

Rejected to williams… :frowning: tomorrow and Thursday aren’t looking pretty… Oh well Ive pretty much decided UVA for me…I guess I should be happy

^ Dude, UVA is a GREAT school. It was actually one of my top choices for someone who performed below average in HS.

I’m sorry Anamai! D:

Thursday is looking dismal for me as well. It really sucks having such good schools left to hear back from, because all my hope is left on them. & they aren’t schools anyone can depend on. T_T

^ Be happy that you didn’t get rejected to city colleges and attending ST Johns next year like me.

Was that it for you, anamai?

This Thursday my future will either live…or die.

No… I still have tomorrow…:frowning: and yes, UVA is a great school… I’m not complaining… I’m just saying it wasn’t a match for me bc I don’t like the size or location… I’m not complaining that I got in… I just don’t really want to go there…for various reasons but I feel like I have no choice but to go there

Man, I hope I can at least like St Johns. :X
So I can stay there for at least two years before transferring out.

Rejected from JHU.

Please, God. Please. Let this nightmare have a happy ending.

Waitlisted at UVA. Oh well.

^ Cody, what’s your SAT score?

^ 1860. But my ACT was better (29).

How hard did you study for that 1860?

Did you even use the 10 tests in the CB book?

^ I didn’t, and no. I took it cold.

I took a Kaplan class for the ACT though, because most of the schools I applied to were in the midwest where the ACT is more common.

I think you could’ve done better with hours of studying from the CB book. Probably around 2000-2100+.

Me, on the other hand, I didn’t try hard enough with practice tests at home. That’s why I ended up with the mediocre results I got.
