*how dominant is greek life at Ripon? If you are not Greek, will be feel left out?

where are the parties? greek houses only? dorms?

*how prevalent is the drinking? If you do not drink, can you still be feel a part of the ripon community ok, or might you feel left out?

*how much discussion of academic subjects go on (outside of class) at ripon? Or is sports and non intellectual subjects more the norm?

*is there a train or a bus that goes to chicago?

*how far is the town from campus? steps? or do you need a car to get there?

Also very interested in the answers to the above questions, although given the post date and forum activity, I don't hold out much hope.

Hi all! Thanks for the messages! Here are some quick answers to previous posts…

*how dominant is greek life at Ripon? If you are not Greek, will be feel left out?

Greek life is a part of campus but it’s not overwhelming - if students want to be a part of a sorority or fraternity, they can - if not, they can still hang out with those who are. All of the greek organizations live on campus in living groups in the residence halls so they are all a part of campus - they plan a lot of activities open to the entire campus and support and fundraise for several different causes.

where are the parties? greek houses only? dorms?

Students hang out all over campus - since we don’t have greek houses, most students hang out in their residence halls or in some of the common spaces on campus like the Pub and Terrace - these are both dining options and offer live entertainment several times throughout the year.

*how prevalent is the drinking? If you do not drink, can you still be feel a part of the ripon community ok, or might you feel left out?

If you don’t drink you will definitely feel like you’re a part of the Ripon community - its’ a very active campus with a lot of alternatives to drinking available every weekend - from comedians to bands to movie nights and simply hanging out with friends, there is always something to do!

*how much discussion of academic subjects go on (outside of class) at ripon? Or is sports and non intellectual subjects more the norm?

The discussions are pretty balanced - students certainly have deep conversations and debate different topics related to or stemming from class or what’s going on in the world but they also hang out and talk about every day things like sports, tv, movies, etc…

*is there a train or a bus that goes to chicago?

The Office of Student Activities offers a shuttle service to and from the Appleton and Milwaukee airports at all breaks and by request. Students from the Chicago area have taken the shuttle to Milwaukee and then a train to Chicago - otherwise, we have an online ride board where students can share a ride to or close to where you need to go.

*how far is the town from campus? steps? or do you need a car to get there?

Town is only a block from campus so students do not need a car - the downtown area is quaint and has everything you’d need from Ripon Drug where you can get everything from a prescription to a greeting card or shampoo to shops and restaurants. We also offer the Velorution program where students can sign a pledge not to bring a car to campus and receive a free Cannondale mountain bike.

Hope this helps!
