If you don’t get into your top choice, they will choose a school for you.
if they don’t feel like are a right fit for your first or second choice major, then they would choose for you (most likely CAS). this doesn’t apply to you as much…for example, if you apply to Whitman and newhouse dual as your first and newhouse as your second but they don’t feel you are a right fit for either but still want you, they would put you in CAS. since you applied to CAS this probably won’t happen to you because it’s less competitive.
cuse does this bcs they have majors/schools that are way more competitive than the rest. sometimes you will be a good candidate for the school but not for the more competitive major.
Hi I’m new to this site. I just wanted your guy’s opinion. I haven’t heard back from Syracuse yet I’m hoping to tonight but I applied to Newhouse. If I get my second choice of CAS do you think it’ll be possible for me to transfer to Newhouse later if I don’t get in now? I don’t know hoy strict syracuse is worth transferring between schools.
they have 3 internal transfer periods: the end of freshman year, the beginning of second semester sophomore year, and the end of sophomore year. as for how competitive it is…it depends on the year and how many people are trying to transfer. they take the kids with the best GPAs and go until how many seats in the program they have left. they say it is harder to do then get into newhouse applying as an incoming freshman, but at the same time if it is something you really want, it can definitely be achieved and plenty of people have done it. now…you have to decide if that is worth it. if it is really your first choice and it is something you are committed too then you can go for it, but if you don’t think you can keep your GPA so high as a freshman in college, then I would definitely think twice. cuse is really good about internal transfers, and you will have an advisor to help you through this process. but it’s really up to you. fingers crossed that you get into Newhouse, but if not, you really have to decide if that’s something you want to do and is really worth it. if you want more info, check this out and go to the newhouse section Academic Rules - Syracuse University - Acalog ACMS™ !!! hope this helped!!!
Thank you! This forum has really helped me with all my questions and I really appreciate how detailed and knowledgeable you guys are.
If you get waitlisted or rejected, would you not hear back today and simply hear back later?
they may release some rejections today but I am not 100% sure. with the EDI round they did acceptances and rejections and then deferrals with a few acceptances mixed in in the next round. last year for RD they did acceptances and then the following week waitlists, but I am not sure where the rejections fit in. someone awhile ago on this thread said rejections followed waitlists, but I don’t know how true that is…I guess we just have to wait and see!
Ahh, I wish they just did them all the same time to alievate anxiety. Imagine if you did not hear today so you think you were rejected, but you were actually accepted Hoping that happens to none of us, and that we will simply recieve good news!!
My dad and I completed everything on the financial aid checklist last month, and I just got an email this morning asking for more documents! Does anyone know how much this might delay a financial aid package?
Is a weighted GPA of 4.4 good? I think my unweighted GPA is 3.67. I converted higher level IB grades but I have no idea what this would look like to colleges.
That’s pretty good for cuse, I have an unweighted gpa near that so hoping for the best
I’m just so nervous. I know I have the stats to get in but it doesn’t always work out and I’m worried. I hope they see something in me. I tried to show a lot of interest.
what time do they release??
I’m so nervous too but all we can do is wait. No matter what, we will be okay.
I believe typically its between 5-5:30, but it could be before or (more likely) after that.
thank you!
