IF decisions are released today, would they come out sometime from 5-6PM EST? Or could it just start at 5?

Yes, me too!

From what I know, it doesn’t come at one time. It’s released by email.

it seems like it could be anytime after 5pm

Hi - I just looked into this because my parents (who attended Syracuse SIXTY years ago) were insisting to me that my son could get into CAS and then “easily” transfer to Newhouse or Whitman later on. Well, I did not believe that at all, otherwise think of how many people would try that, using CAS as the back door. So I looked it up on the website and it says they accept “about 30” transfers per year into Newhouse and Whitman (from other universities and from other departments at Syracuse). So my advice to you, which I will be telling my own son is this: only go to Syracuse if you will be 100% happy with the school they accept you for…because transferring is very competitive and unlikely. Not impossible but unlikely.

Is CAS that easy to get into??

Sorry… I didn’t mean to imply that CAS at Syracuse is easy or not a good choice. I just meant to say that Newhouse and Whitman are extra competitive (especially with Newhouse being ranked as the #1 Communications School) and that if you are accepted to CAS, don’t assume you can easily transfer into one of the other, more competitive schools. My parents attended Syracuse in a very different time and my mom very easily switched over to the Fine Arts school after 2 semesters. Almost on a whim. That would not happen now!

That’s is exactly what my brother who goes to Whitman now informed me. Do not go if you are not accepted in your major. He told me to apply for my major at Whitman not CAS cause transferring is very difficult. He knows many kids that tried to transfer unsuccessfully. Good luck to all!

That was good advice your brother gave you. I told my son that he can to a MINOR at Whitman (that path seems much easier and more supported than transferring) but even for a minor, he’ll have to be really proactive about getting the paperwork and signatures needed to make it happen.
