Syracuse Class of 2026 Admissions

I waa wondering the exact same thing last Friday just before the release. The link is the actual year 2023 that becomes clickable and it goes to a page that says congratulations on receiving your Financial Aid award, or something like that. Mt son has not actually received his award yet but he gets that screen when he clicks on 2023. the amounts are just blank. None of these links worked until right after he got his email just after 5pm on Friday. Friday morning the year 2023 had appeared but wasnā€™t yet clickable. I took that as a possible sign and posted about it here. Several other people also had that change but we couldnā€™t figure out if everyone had it or just people who were about to get a decision.

My husband, my son, and myself are alum. I have a lot of kids  so weā€™ve been through this process before and have come out on both ends. In general, the first large wave is acceptances, with fewer acceptances as weeks pass. Rejections go out in the later weeksā€¦.another week or 2. Iā€™m not trying to burst any bubbles. My son did not hear anything on Friday either. Itā€™s disappointing. Of course Iā€™m making generalities and thereā€™s always room for hope. But realistically Iā€™ll be surprised if he gets an acceptance in later weeks. Good luck to everyone and go orange :tangerine:

I am an alum as well and this is the third time I have gone through college acceptances for my kids.
Of all the schools they have applied to, none of them sent out regular decisions in waves like this. I find the whole process very stressful for the kids.
Just let them know already!! Keep the faith!!

Agree. I was hoping this was the year things would be different. Thatā€™s why Iā€™m hanging out here. You never know.

Iā€™m very unimpressed with how SU administers itself. Not just through how they release decisions but after following the parent page for a year, there seem to be many administrative issues including class registration holds en masse because tuition hadnā€™t been paid in the fall but the bursars office hadnā€™t provided bills to be paid. One hand doesnā€™t seem to know what the other is doing.

My son did receive his acceptance on Friday but I just want to mention that one of his Early Action acceptances, Binghamton, did acceptances in waves and he did not hear until the 3rd week or so. It was stressful waiting. Keep the faith!

It is in fact so very hard waiting for decisions. While I certainly donā€™t support this practice of releasing in waves, unfortunately it is so common among colleges big and small and not at all unique to Syracuse

Does anyone know if financial aid is independent of the application decision process? I never filled out financial aid and have yet to hear back which is kinda making me nervousā€¦

Yes, application decision is separate and distinct from financial aid process. One is not dependent on the other.

this is not accurate information.

plus, it is common practice for any school to withhold registration should the tuition bill not be paid.

iā€™d like to add that if there is ever any issues, a simple phone call to the school clears up issues.
you get what you pay for. syracuse does do a good job. reading a few posts from a parent group is not indicative of the masses. itā€™s typically the few loudest of the bunch that simply love to be loud and are just a small part of the mix. every school has them.

Thank you for posting this. I was just about to state the very same. Syracuse Administration is outstanding, a live person always picks up the phone, helpful and knowledgable with any issues that need assisted. Go Orange :tangerine:!

Has anyone been accepted that has been deferred from Early Decision?

Yes my D22 was deferred during ED and was accepted to Newhouse on Friday

Congratulations! My son was deferred and I am afraid that he will now be waitlisted.

For some reason I thought that this coming Friday was one going to be one of the first admissions rounds and that last week was the round with mostly scholarships. Are you thinking that this week starts the ā€œwaitlist weekā€ already, with mostly waitlists and a few acceptances thrown in? Iā€™m not questioning you, just questioning myselfā€¦ I honestly
thought last week was the first week of RD admission notifications and now iā€™m getting myself a little more anxious than i already wasā€¦

to relieve some of your anxiety. Our experience for class of 2025, each Friday was a mix of Accepted, Waitlist, Deferred and Not Accepted. My S received his acceptance the 2nd Friday rollout. This one takes some patience, endurance and faith

Thank you! The anxiety is awful with the waiting. If it wasnā€™t my D top choice I wouldnā€™t be so worried but, it is.

The student applies for jobs that interest them. It is not mandatory. There are many options usually including some related to their major in that department.

Some kids find it is a great way to meet other kids, too.

I had several great work study jobs during college that helped to build my resume after I graduated.

Work study money gets figured into the aid package, but those funds come during the year through payroll checks to help cover some of the day to day expenses figured into the total cost of attendance.

My S was accepted last week with no scholarship or merit at allā€¦ So last week was definitely not scholarship week!
