Syracuse ED 2018 Thread

How many waves does Syracuse send decisions in… I sent my common app in on November 13th but one of my recommenders didn’t complete their recommendation until the 1st of December… Is this going to push my notification back?

@Nsantore
The same thing had happened to me…so I wouldn’t worry I’m sure you’ll be in the next wave!

@cusewarsaw 17

What is it that Syracuse ended up sending you that they emailed you confirmation for? Was it an acceptance letter or something financial aid related?

@artvandelay it was just a shipping confirmation, basically saying that dhl was sending the hard copy in the mail. Nothing to do with financial aid sorry x

Do you guys think my decision will be delayed if I haven’t submitted my discover Strasbourg application? The deadline is January 15.

once you’ve finished the admission acceptance form and paid, how do you know what hall you are going to stay in?

@cusewarsaw17

Do you know if everyone received the DHL email? Or did Syracuse have to send it through DHL since you are an international applicant?

I just want to know to look out for a DHL email so I can know if I’ll get an admissions decision tomorrow!

I think it’s only for international applicants because we need hard copies of I-20 immigration forms sent to us in order to apply for a student visa. Sorry hun, but let’s hope you get your decision tomorrow:) x

Hey everyone! congrats to everyone that heard last friday, I have two questions for you guys. My first question is around what time did you guys hear? Also does anyone know the method to Syracuse releasing their decisions? Thanks so much guys!

They seem to release decisions every friday in waves and around 5pm (EST)

Do you know how they decide who gets released in what wave? Like by high school or what not? (I was freaking out last weekend when I saw some admissions were sent out lol)

Most of the people who got accepted last Friday were Newhouse applicants. Most of them had applied early.

I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences on the deadline, December 1. I really hope I get my decision tomorrow…

I’m pretty sure it’s random

On the acceptance page there are people from all colleges

Ok thanks so much! I’m hoping its random because I applied in October and haven’t heard anything yet :/

I definitely think it’s random, though I’m pretty sure the first wave was mostly kids who had turned in their applications in advance. A lot of them just happened to be Newhouse kids, since a high percentage of Cuse’s ED applicants are Newhouse applicants

In previous years it’s always been random, so there’s nothing to be worried about!

That being said, I hope all of us receive good news tomorrow

thanks so much guy! i’m feeling a little bit better :slight_smile:

Crossing my fingers for everyone for tomorrow!

Anyone accepted to the Newhouse/iSchool dual enrollment program?

If you turned in the CSS form late, does that hold your decision?

^No, it might delay your FA decision though.
