Me too. I can’t believe they would make us wait another 20 days to find out our decision if they already completed reviewing them a week ago. It’s so cruel.

Anyone apply Newhouse photo get in? Also if I haven’t heard back does that ultimately mean rejection or deferal?

If you don’t get an ED decision one way or the other before 1/1 it DEFEATS THE ENTIRE POINT OF ED.

You will have to submit (and pay for) applications to all your RD schools as they have 1/1 deadlines.

I’ll echo what everyone else said. My son had his application in by the original ED deadline. Why can’t they get the answer by the original notification? Why penalize those who did actually get it done???

Hey all, so I was tracking this blog since it started and have been regularly visiting it, especially on Fridays and Saturdays! Hehe! I was really tensed up when the first wave went out and was eagerly waiting like you all here! But yesterday I got my ED Notification and I’m in! I really couldn’t ask for anything more or be happier! You all here discussed your stats and communication between the Admission Officers and I really found that helpful and thank you all for that! I too was SO angry when they delayed the admission notification even though we applied really early ( I did on Nov 5! ). But, I guess whatever happens, does happen for the best indeed and I wish you well for I hope all of you here anticipating do get in!

For those of you who have gotten in, Congratulations:) I hope to see you in campus next summer.
For those of you who are still waiting, I’m really sorry. Im sure you’ll hear back soon but till then try to keep yourself occupied somehow. Having to submit other apps is a pain and I wish you the best of luck.

Has anyone not gotten in?

Btw remember to join the thread group!

It’s honestly so ridiculous that some applicants will be finding out a MONTH after others. This isn’t a rolling school, it’s ED. They should be letting us know before Jan. 1, before we have to spend hundreds of dollars on more college applications.

My AC told me over a week ago that my decision had been made, and someone else on here echoed the same thing (that admissions had told them all decisions for ED I had been made). So WHAT is the point of holding those decisions and forcing those people to wait anxiously and apply to more schools?

Honestly, if we don’t all get accepted after waiting an additional month, I will be so upset for all of us. This is honestly just cruel.

I think that since they added an ED II round they are holding some ED I notifications to see if better candidates show up in ED II.

Again unfair. If you apply ED I, you should be competing with (and only with) the ED I applicants.

Seems like a bit of bait and switch to me.

I agree with you winterfell, this situation is just ridiculous.

I still haven’t received my decision yet either. There is absolutely no reason we should not have heard back yet. I wish there was something we could do about it too but since there is no way to contact them during the next two weeks it stinks.

I called the admissions office yesterday to see if some emails went out and they told me yes and that I would hear back in the next week to 10 days. How would I hear back then if their offices aren’t even open?

@oaerh14… If they said you’d hear from them in the next week to 10 days that says they plan on making releases during the break (unless they were being a little loose with the estimate). The Syracuse website does indicate that “Admissions Processing” will be on a limited schedule during break. I took that to mean that they will continue to receive and file applications over break. But maybe they will also release decisions already made during that time. I don’t know why they wouldn’t just release them all at once, but maybe there is a chance we’ll still know by end of December. One day at a time I guess…

Pastorjoel:
The admissions office Twitter feed made it clear that the decisions that were sent out on Thursday are the last for December and that they would resume after the break and “continue thru January”
This means that they have taken your ED II option away.
Totally unfair and not in line with what they promised.

Hey everyone,

I was an applicant last year in the RD round. As I understand it, decisions are released via a computer to reduce the system crashing.

So even though university offices are closed they can send out decisions.

Also: On the SU Admissions page it says ED1 is still going out until early January.

Mystical:
That’s the whole problem.
ED I notifications should NOT be going on in January. All ED I notifications should be done before 1/1, otherwise it defeats the entire point of applying ED I.

Has anyone heard if any distinction is being made for ED1 applications submitted before the original deadline of 11/15? It really seems as if they should have honored their original notification deadline for those at least. This is very frustrating…

Well, I can tell you for a fact that they are not.
Son had ED 1 app in before 11/15, still has not heard.
The net result is that a bunch of RD apps had to go out PLUS he has lost his opportunity to apply ED II anywhere else.

soze: Well, we’re in the same boat. We made a great effort to meet that deadline and had it all in before 11/15 as well. My son also has not heard back and it is frustrating because it affects how we do financial aid applications. I just don’t see why they couldn’t honor their commitment if we did ours.

The really frustrating thing for us is that two weeks ago, everybody else in his HS who applied to the same program ED heard that they got rejected or deferred EXCEPT for my son. If they could act on their ED applications, they they could have on his. I’m quite sure that they are waiting to see what they ED II applicants look like, which is quite unfair as my son applied ED I, not ED II and he should be competing with the ED I applicants not the ED II applicants.

Soze: My AC told me specifically that my decision had been made and that it would go out sometime (“if not before break, sometime around the sixth”), and that everyone’s EDI apps had been decided on. I don’t think they’re waiting on EDII–I don’t know why they’re taking so long, maybe to avoid a glitch or a crash. I certainly don’t agree with it, but it seems a little ridiculous to make the admissions office seem like these cruel monsters not allowing people to be evaluated fairly.
