So…I just spoke with an admissions counselor on the phone, and they told me that we would have a decision by the end of March. I mentioned the waves on fridays, and they were so ambiguous, saying end of march. Are you guys 100% positive the first wave will be on Friday, the 16th?

Yes it will be March 16th. Most colleges will give that standard answer even if decisions are coming out soon.

EX: I called WASH U the day admissions were coming out and the girl on the phone just said “by April 1st” and that same day, decisions came out.

I spoke to an admissions officer face to face for the college of arts and sciences and he assured me the first wave would be released march 16th.

Okay, thanks @Mango15

I cannot imagine my calling the school, although I definitely appreciate the info!! So no offense Grib. Frankly I’d be too afraid they’d see caller ID and think, this kid needs to cut some apron strings. However! Despite D’s extreme independence, I have definitely been in contact with her GC to double check on some things relayed to us that seemed a little dubious or otherwise not how I recalled it going with the older two. And I have encouraged D to contact schools when she had yet to hear about her applications being complete.

While completely anxious and combing CC for clues on all her schools, I figure at the end of the month, it will be whatever it will be, and I don’t have a horse in this particular race - it’s all hers. I just like to know what’s coming and when. She might have done all the work, but I paid the application fee!

No it’s normal to call admissions. They get probably hundreds of calls a day, so they wouldn’t write down your number and think “this applicant is annoying, let’s re-evaluate his decision”. Haha imagine.

I’d loved to know why they deflect the questions and reply “by April 1st”. Maybe it’s so applicants won’t panic and keep calling? I feel like it would be easier if they told the truth. The receptionists couldn’t possibly be so clueless that she doesn’t even know the date.

They don’t want to make promises they can’t keep. If they give a specific date and can’t meet it, then people will freak out at the delay and they will get bombarded with complaints, which may hurt the number of future applicants. Many colleges only give out a specific date when they are finalizing the decisions, so they know they can meet the deadline.

I guess I should add that I do know kids who were offered their second choice who were notified on that first Friday of decisions in the past…

Also, some students are waitlisted to their first choice school while others are offered their second choice…and, for that, I honestly have no answer as to why

i’m an international student and still haven’t got any notification. So worried!!! I heard most international students are notified earlier than the others. I think i won’t be accepted :(

Hopefully decisions come out tomorrow!!!

Hopefully decisions come out for most of us. Keep in mind that the decisions are in waves!

When I spoke with a women yesterday on the phone she said that if your app has been complete for a while ( since december) you should be in the first wave! I just hope that they come out tomorrow! I don’t know if I can wait any longer.

The first wave is coming out tomorrow. Good luck, everyone!

Good luck everyone! I applied to International Relations back in October. Hope I find out tomorrow! Anyone know a time?

I can barely wait! Anyone have an idea of when the decisions will be sent out? Late afternoon? Early evening? I work tomorrow and will have to spend the entire night with this anticipation and not knowing my status or even if I was in the first wave. Good luck everyone!

Dammit, I sent in all my materials in November but didn’t send in my essays til late December. I hope I’m in the first wave I can’t wait another week! I’d be so disappointed.

^^wizardly: around 4:30 PM Est…

So…if your decision is out tomorrow, this will all be up on that MySlice page?

^^^ Yeah, your decision will be on MySlice and you will receive a letter in the mail a few days after. Good luck to everyone, I hope I’m in the first wave!!!

Any chance of a midnight release?

^^no…and if I remember correctly, you get an email first but I could be wrong…

Good luck to everyone waiting!
