Hello, my child has been accepted to both Syracuse and University of Michigan, but she’s having a hard time deciding between which. She plans to major in political science at the moment and I’ve heard that UM has a great political science program, but she’s really drawn to Syracuse and it’s smaller student population, among other things. I don’t know much about either schools, so I was wondering if anyone could provide some input/advice? Is UM as good as everyone’s been saying it is? And would it be so bad if she were to pick Syracuse over UM?
UMich is highly ranked in almost every university category, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good fit for everyone. Syracuse is a fine school as well. She should choose the school that fits her better, that’s where she’ll be happy and thrive. Given her preference for a smaller size and her love for the school, Syracuse sounds like a good fit.
My S19 likes both schools for film/tv. He will apply in a few months.
My wife went to MICHIGAN and my son is going to Syracuse. I love both schools. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. My thought would be to pick the School that feels right. She will have wonderful opportunities at both schools.
