haha mismuff! you are the only other person (besides myself and a few of my friends) that i have EVER heard say "nutso"!! i think it's awesome!

Less than a day till the journeys begin.

yep, I leave for the airport in 24 hrs. and 40 minutes! :)

im leaving today and arriving tonight ;-P

see you all in a few

This is the last day some of you will be on here for a while, so let me wish you good luck, 2012. Basic will seem like it lasts a lifetime, but at the beginning of 2nd beast, when you look back at all you did during 1st beast, it'll seem like it really flew by. And like everything, BCT does end...just never give up, and you'll make it through one way or another.

Thanks Falcons '11. Mamboguy signing off.

See you all again on the other side...

I'll be about 20 minutes from Colorado this time tomorrow... it seems so surreal!

Yikes you people!
Best of luck to each of you and God bless! :D

I'm walking around like a zombie right now...

This time tomorrow I will be at my host family's house. The other night it hit me: this time next week, I won't be sleeping in this bed...whoa! People keep asking me if I am nervous, excited, etc. and I keep saying, "all of the above!" I'm sure you guys feel the same way...see you soon!

I know how you feel xc. Everyone keeps asking me how I feel about it, and I can't really say! It's such a mixture of things... and I think them asking me is making me a little more nervous than I would have been to begin with!

Ditto to what Falcons, Redhead, and others have already mentioned. You've heard all of our advice, and you'll go in knowing FAR more than the average appointee. BCT is not always a load of fun, but it's very doable and every single one of you can complete it successfully. Time will go faster and faster, and parts of BCT are actually fun as well (the 4th, CATM, Ops Warrior, beautifying your squadron in Jack's, jodies, Acceptance Day, etc). I've had the pleasure of meeting a lot of you, and I think you'll fit in well here. Just always keep going, and keep looking forward. You'll be wearing your shoulderboards before you know it.

One thing I found motivating in BCT was the opportunities that would eventually present themselves. 'If I can just get through this one year, I'll get to do all kinds of cool things.' What a difference a year makes. 365 days ago, I was exactly where you are now. Nervous, excited, nervous, and not really thrilled about leaving home. But the clock just never stops. BCT came and went, as did PW, Prog, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Before I knew it, we were already into second semester. Some of those same familiar feelings arose again before Recognition, but that passed quickly too. In a single year, you'll make the remarkable transformation of a civilian to a basic to a four degree to an upperclassman. A year ago, I hadn't even begun, but look at where we are today! Last week, I got to fly an F-16. Next week, I'll be jumping out of airplanes. And what I've accomplished is nothing special - you can all be afforded the same opportunities. Everything the Academy has to offer - an outstanding college education, amazing summers, and a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force - can and will be given to you. All that's asked in return is a little hard work. Give it your all when you get here, 2012. This place is a journey that very few will ever get to experience. Our staff decided that out of thousands, you are the best qualified to someday lead the Air Force and America's sons and daughters, which is truly an awe-inspiring responsibility. They think you can do it. We know you can. It's showtime, '12 - make us proud.

Good luck to all you Air Force Candidates. I'm be 2012 USMA, and our Reception Day is June 30 so I leave in 48 hours for Beast Barracks.

Great words, PETKO. And I totally agree with one of the things you said; flying in a F-16 is nothing special! :) :) I kid! I kid!

Seriously, get to bed all you 2012-ers! You got a big day ahead of you!

Do great things!

I will be leaving for the airport pretty soon. I just wanted to say to everyone thanks for all the advice over the years. I am looking forward to starting basic tomorrow. Good luck to you all. 2013, the application process is long and daunting but just be orgainzed and get everything in early especially DoDMERB and you should be good to go. I will be back on this forum to let you all know how basic goes...

same here, I will be heading out to the airport soon. So good luck to all who are aspiring to go the academy.
and 2012, I will see you guys soon
