At the parents weekend, we heard about some new developments.
- There is a new girl’s dorm under construction, ready for next school year.
- The School is evaluating competing architects’ plans for a new campus center / learning commons. That project is fast-tracked: 2-3 years.
- In response to a parent question, the school documented initial planning for sea level rise. Rising sea levels won’t probably impact the school for 50 years. But extreme high wave action could impact a couple of campus buildings (one is a faculty home, the other a small [10 students] dorm) sooner. They are evaluating options for those buildings, but have backup plans in the form of “extra” buildings in case those buildings are damaged. -The school continues an initiative to train teachers in the latest developments in brain science to make their teaching methods as modern as possible. The book, “Make It Stick” details some of those findings in a way that can hr,p students study more eff3ctively.
