Taiwan :d

since most asian countries have their own thread here, taiwan people post here! how're your apps going? how's life in general?

Taiwan is not a country.. it's part of China...

haha...well they're an independent country......for now at least....

China thinks that its their part... Still, in Atlas, its a separate country :)

I love watching taiwanese politics... especially the bits where the politicians physically get into fights live on national TV :p. You'd think people would be more civilised nowadays. Like one sec they have a debate then next instant one fat guy rolls over his desk thingy and starts strangling the speaker and then this melee involving half the house erupts with everyone cursing each other's mums with punching, kicking, strangling, pinching and even poking members of the other factions :p

Do you reckon they have bets on who wins the fights? I'd always put my money on the Fat sumo looking guy cauz I reckon if he sits on anyone- it'll be game over... for the other guy that is ...

Is that democracy that way its ment to be? :p.

taiwan girls are pretty.

that was how America's democracy began. my US History teacher said there was a legislator who once beat up another guy and left him nearly dead.

the ladies in parliament are equally vicious too....haha especially verbally.

They should broadcast more parliamentary debates and stuff on TV ... I just love it once they start insulting each other's mum's ...

lol...i never knew they broadcast parliament stuff on american TV. seems like everywhere in taiwan is like a noisy wet market - hospital ER, parliament, parks...

Im in australia... with sat-tv you get quite a nice range of channels :p

taiwanese politics is indeed very amusing and entertaining....watching officials beatin the crap outta each other ^_^...

I'm half Taiwanese...... My mom is taiwanese and my dad is Hong Konger.

Is anybody gonna take Chinese?

I'm wondering what should I do for my proficiency of Chinese. Should I take SAT II Chinese or AP Chinese? I'm sure I will self study. Which one is harder?

ps. I've been Hong Kong for 15yrs and learned Chinese for 12 yrs. So I think I will be okay with the test.

Hey lightfish, good to see a fellow Taiwanese here. =)

I'm an ABC, but I've never lived in America...(well not long enough to make it count, at any rate).

cool finally a person IN taiwan...haha

oasis - actually i'm a first generation singaporean, but family are all taiwanese. which high school do you go to?

taiwan is not part of the people's republic BUT IT IS PART OF CHINA

Lol... this thread is becoming a political debate-- Is Taiwan part of China?

I agree with JinFX. Taiwan is part of China, the China that appeared 5000years ago. But not the China establish just 50s years.

But then you'd have the Mogolians claiming that China and Taiwan and a small stretch of coast in Japan to also be part of "mongolia" along with most of Russia, a bit on India and maybe even a slice of Turkey.

It's a matter of perception. Politicians will undeniably flair things up but seriously- who in their right mind would give a **** about the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China eh? The current status quo is peaceful as well and reliable so why change it? I really think that Chen something or rather president of Taiwan needs a brain fix... if you already govern yourself and you have the world's only true superpower making sure you don't get invaded why the heck would constantly flair things up with rhetoric about problems that don't really exist and patriotism about a country that has never really existed?

Anyways, just for the record- I don't support the communists nor do I support the nationalists. I think they each have their advantages and if nobody provokes each other than a long and peace co-existence is viable... and yes- I am the optimist :p

haha yes let's just hope the current situation remains as it is...although taiwan seriously does need a new change in power, otherwise its economy will be sucked up entirely by booming china. it's already happening...

which country admit its independence officially in the world?
just a few small countries(taiwan pays alot for it,haha)
