<p>I'm a senior in high school working hard to get into West Point hence my username; but I find it that when most of my friends go on college visits they don't sit down in a class to see how it feels. I find it stupid that anyone who goes to a college they are considering wouldn't take a class to see how it all feels to them. When I visited Florida State I took an Astronomy class and it was AMAZING!</p>

<p>I agree. I always try to sit in on a class when I visit a college. When I visited Cornell, I sat in on a linear algebra class and started answering questions and taking notes lol.</p>

<p>When I was visiting most colleges, I was (1) so shy and intimidated by the whole process; (2) so burnt out that my parents were lucky if they could convince me to eat in the dining hall, let alone sit through a class. Staying overnight was absolutely not in the cards! I knew that by closing my mind to some of these options, I was missing out on certain info, so where I felt I needed more to go by, I tried to compensate in other ways. </p>
<p>When it came down to it, a less-than-perfect class wouldn't have turned me off of any of the schools I really liked, and I didn't need an amazing in-class experience to bring me to my decision. If I had sat in on classes, perhaps spent a night, or done anything else that I refused at the time, my choice might have been easier or quicker, but I'm almost 100% positive that it would ultimately have been the same. </p>
<p>I made my decision based on plenty of factors, both academic and otherwise. My refusal to sit in on a class indicated a lack of multiple qualities, but at the time, common sense wasn't chief among them. For someone else, the story could've been totally different.</p>
