Take internship or not?

So I have been offered an internship at a well known company, although not in the technical field but the job is related to my major. In a nutshell, it's unpaid and for college credit. I'm a summer grad and an IE major. The company is more in the letters industry and many interns are non-technical ppl. I haven't had luck with any full time jobs and didn't hear back from anywhere else except another place which clearly wanted ***** work but had decent pay and it was temporary and not engineering per se. The unpaid one is in supply chain and is very interesting and could contribute since the dept. is pretty new. I've seen so many posts of ppl not even considering something unpaid for an engineering student which perfectly makes sense. But I feel this experience could help me land something full time later on. I'm still doubting tho but this could be meaningful experience. Although there is no guarantee I'll have a full time job at this place once I finish this internship. What should I do? I have had no luck finding full time, I think an internship will make me more competitive, since I haven't had one. I have over a 3 gpa so that's no issue.

What is the alternative? What would you be doing if you don’t take the internship?

If you don’t have any better alternative, an unpaid internship is still a good option if you can afford it.

With how bad the job market is for engineers in many areas, an internship can mean the difference between having a pretty good chance with a specific employer (ie: the internship employer upon graduation) versus having little or no chance at all of finding employment.

Particularly in the Electrical/Computer sector where unemployment runs extremely rampant and many firms are receiving upwards of 1000 resumes for each hire they make.
