I am an Iranian student who wanna apply for colleges and universities.Do u think taking only SAT I can lower my chance of getting admitted even in college that require only SAT reasoning test ? Cuz I think as I see the condition for international students is really tougher especially for IRANIAN ones ,so do u think taking SAT I,SAT II( 3 subject tests) &TOEFL in good scores can increase my chance of getting admitted or getting financial aids ? By the way I am financially supported but I like to get full scholarship or some financial aids.

Obviously for colleges that require SAT IIs, you need to take them. There are some that also recommend or consider IIs and thus you should consider taking them for those. Go here for a list of colleges that require, recommend or consider SAT IIs. You should add Michigan to the list as a college that considers IIs: [Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group)

If the schools to which you are applying are not on the list them most likely: (a) they do not require IIs, AND (b) they won’t even consider them if you submit them.

Obviously you must take Toefl (except some do not require Toefl if you make a certain score on the SAT critical reading section, and score needed depends on college).

As for financial aid, need-based financial aid is not provided to internationals by public universities and many private universities, so as to any private universities you therefore have to check college to see if any will be provided at all. As to merit aid, that varies significantly among colleges with high ranks generally providing little or none. Otherwise there are many mid to lower ranked colleges that provide some merit aid (very few give full scholarships and usually you are looking at only partial tuiton scholarship) which are based on grades and test score (SAT) and some just on test score and SAT IIs are usually not considered in that equation.

Erm, so yeah, it would appear taking all three would be to your advantage.

Depending on where you’re looking you will probably need to take at least two Subject tests. The TOEFL is for international students so as to place greater context and on their other scores (because the critical reading section is often much lower for students for whom English is their second language). So you may need/want to take that as many schools require it for international students.

And you already seem set on taking the SAT so, good luck on that.

International admission to many schools is ridiculously difficult. The fact that you are applying from Iran, though, probably wouldn’t make any more of a difference than if you were applying from France or something. As long as you can get a student visa, country of origin shouldn’t make any difference.

Though, I did go to a summer program where I heard one of the international students admitted couldn’t come because his student visa was denied :(. Not sure it was true or not.
