So next year (senior year) I’ll be taking Anatomy and Physiology honors which counts as a science credit but can also be an elective. My past science courses have been chem honors, AP bio, and AP chem.
Im wondering if I should take physics honor as that probably looks good on applications as well as Anatomy or should I take anatomy as my science and Ap psych as my elective?
i dont think I will do too well in physics and at least I get college credit with AP psych unlike an honors physics class. I just dont know if colleges frown upon not taking physics especially if i took two ap science classes the years before.
I plan to major in psych but be on pre-med track fyi. (I wanna study psychiatry)
if you’re competing against students who’ve taken physics and only 10% of you get med school worthy grades in the class, what so you think will happen to you?
since you’ve taken AP Bio, no need to take A&P. Take AP psych instead of a&p.
Pre-meds need to take physics in college. You do not want to subject yourself to fierce grade-competition for scarce A grades in college physics without having had high school physics.
Don’t do things because you think they look good. Do things because you want/it’s right, etc.
I agree with the above. If you have not had physics, take physics. You’ll need college physics as a pre-med and you really don’t want to take it without having had a HS version.
Additionally, depending upon the colleges you are targeting, physics might be a “strongly recommend.”
Personally, as an elective, I’d opt for AP Psych over A&P, but it would probably not be a deal breaker either way.
Most top colleges want to see a sequence of bio, chem, and physics taken in HS. If you are pre-med I’d definitely recommend that you get a HS background in physics.
Given your interests you may want to consider taking AP Psych instead of A&P but it is your call.
