Do students ever take a few gap years before graduating? The thing is, I want to try to become a police officer, so I’d like to try my hand at that before returning to school. Is such an idea absurd? I already completed a year and am set to complete another in the fall.
Sure, some students wait a few years before going to college. At some point, you are referred to as a non-traditional student. BTW, some police officers have 4 year degrees, so you could explore becoming one now or later.
@CheddarcheeseMN thanks! I have already completed a year and am set to complete another. Sorry I did not make that clear.
The risk is that you will never go back and finish. It is much harder to go back once you have a family, too.
@intparent good point, thanks!
The opportunity to attend college is ever-present. However, it becomes more and more difficult to go full time once you ha a job, spouse, kid, mortgage, etc like @intparent said. People do it all the time though. It takes desire and drive.
