Taking a risk with the essay...

Out of all of the optional essays, none really caught my eye. Usually it's easy for me to find an essay that I can endlessly espouse on, but not here. Probably a testament to the high level of thinking necessary to be successful at the university.

Anyway, the only one I can truly see myself writing is the Mantis Shrimp one. But it asks what does it see that we can't...and I want to say it sees too much. As in, its visual senses overwhelm and take over its logical senses (i.e. it puts too much stock in the visual, while ignoring the abstract).

This seems too risky, especially since the prompt kind of leads you to answer the question with the beneficial nature of seeing able to see so much more than we can.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hey that idea is very good. I actually did something like that and if you can make it creative enough it can be an amazing essay. Maybe talk about how the mantis shrimp sees too much but in the end it just is not able to analyze or understand what it sees, therefore making it inferior to a human. Just an idea
