Taking AP Chemistry Without Prior Lab Experience

I am looking to take AP Chemistry next school year. My district requires students to take a basic chemistry course before they take AP Chemistry and so I plan on taking the basic chemistry course (2 semesters of material) over summer.

The main problem is that this course is offered online. I would be able to get my credits but I am unsure on if having no lab experience will severely hinder my performance in AP Chemistry. I have a copy of the Princeton Review and will be studying outside of class in addition to taking the basic chemistry course required by my school online.

Another problem is a good number of colleges require science classes with labs. If I do well in AP Chemistry (an in-seat class with labs), will that make up for the fact that I did not have any lab experience in my basic chemistry class?

Not having a lab will not impact your learning of the AP Chem material.

No. If a college asks for X years with labs, then they want X years with labs. But if you’ve take bio and will be taking physics, you should be covered for almost all colleges.

I have taken bio and plan on taking both AP bio and physics.
Just to be sure, would labs from all of these classes combined with AP Chemistry be enough to make up for the missed lab time from just chemistry?
Are there any notable colleges that I would not be able to get into if I miss a year of lab time from chemistry (is there a place to find which colleges require science with lab time and which don’t?)

It’s unlikely that the reason you are denied (if that happens) is solely because you took an online chem course without lab. But to be clear, there are few, if any, items that can be “made up” by other things - you either have what they want, or you don’t.

No. You need to research for the colleges on your list. Google the colleges’ Common Data Set and look at section C5. e.g.

Ask the AP Chemistry teacher what they think.

If you take it, make sure you understand what is needed in your lab reports/lab notebooks.
Go to your teachers help hours and ask. Get a tutor if needed.
