Taking both Anatomy and Physiology over the summer at ELAC. Good idea? How are the classes like?

I looked at the summer schedule from the last couple of years since the summer 2014 schedule hasn't come out yet, but they seem to be pretty similar. If I take both A&P over the summer, class would be from about 8/9AM-8/9PM with a 2 hour gap in between Monday-Thursday. That means I'll have about 3-4 hours each day to study, plus the 3 day weekend. Do you think this is a good idea? I really want to get A&P out of the way since it will make things so much easier for me next year. I'm not familiar with ELAC at all (I go to UCSD, but would like to stay home during the summer and am not required to take A&P for my major), and don't know what the classes and professors are like there, but from what I heard, it's...mediocre, definitely won't be as difficult as university. This schedule does seem a bit hectic though. What do you guys think? Should I do it? If anyone has taken anatomy or physiology at ELAC, how was the class like, and how much studying did you do?

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to get classes during the summer, especially if I’m not an ELAC student?

At my CC, Anatomy is a prerequisite for Physiology, and I suspect that is the case at most colleges. Even if you could take them together, I think that this is inadvisable. Even at a so-called ‘mediocre’ college, the amount of material covered in an Anatomy course can be overwhelming and is going to require a huge amount of out-of-class time for studying. If you have not yet completed Anatomy, Physiology is going to be more challenging, as they are going to expect that you already know your Anatomy.

You can take Anatomy with Physiology at the same time and get around the prerequisite this way. The classes usually fill up fast but summer is a different story since it goes so fast and there is a ridiculous amount of info that gets crammed up. I can tell you from experience taking Anatomy at Pasadena City College that although it is a community college it is not mediocre and you will have to sacrifice your social life to get an A. It is possible though to pass if that’s your goal. I say go for it but dont get a job or do anything other than studying this whole summer Physio and Anatomy is a lot to handle especially in a summer semester. Good luck and all the best!
