Is this a horrible idea? I'm having a lot of trouble fitting 14BL into my schedule and it would be way more convenient to take it later. If I review the concepts before I start the lab, would it be okay?

No, in all honesty BL has very little to do with 14B. Some of the labs that I remember off the top of my head dealt with recrystallization, synthesis of aspirin, serial dilutions, titrations, Beer’s law/spectrophotometry, and melting point determination, obviously a lot of hands-on stuff. One of the labs towards the end (group lab) does involve kinetics and you should have a basic knowledge of how zero, first, and second order reactions behave, but you won’t have to know them too in-depth. There’s essentially no thermodynamics, as far as I can recall.

How is the class load in general? do we turn in lab report weekly? I am comparing if I should take it in summer ow spring. Please advise.

If it’s anything like 20L, which I think it is, you turn in 2 labs each week: the lab write up (post lab) and the pre lab for the experiment you’re doing that day. It’s not that bad at all. I think it would be more difficult during the summer in terms of time because you’ll most likely be turning in the same amount of work way more than once a week. I think you’d basically be writing lab reports like (almost) every day if it’s in the summer. Don’t quote me on that though because I’m not entirely sure. Just a thought.

BL is a decent amount of work. Labs only meet once a week, but there’s usually both a post-lab and pre-lab due each time, some of them can get lengthy. You might have Calibrated Peer Review (you answer a prompt, then rate other people’s responses and then your own based on specific criteria). The midterm tends to be worth comparatively little (10% I believe for my class), but the final is worth 2 or 3 times more than the midterm. The reports are the bulk of your grade, get on your TA’s good side. If you plan to take BL or CL over summer, I recommend not taking it with another class. You will be writing reports every single day, I went insane.

i think taking BL right after B is helpful, imho.
