At my high school, there’s an option for juniors and seniors to take Running Start. Running Start lets you take classes at the local community college and you can choose to go full time or part time. I was thinking of doing part time so 3 classes at the college, and 3 at the high school. I am planning on applying to Pomona College, and was wondering if taking the college classes would have a positive or negative impact on my application.
The credits I earn at the CC would only count towards my graduation requirements because Pomona is not in my state. However, would the fact that I took multiple college classes in high school show that I’m more experienced and ready to be an actual college student? Or would the fact that I would be taking less APs outweigh that. So basically how would colleges like Pomona view taking AP courses/exams vs. college courses?
Do you know if Pomona takes AP credits? If so, it would lead me to believe APs would be more useful.
Yes they take AP credits but only two total. and since I’m still spending half my time at the high school, I would have earned almost 10 AP credits by the time I graduated. @Frigidcold
What classes would you be taking? What AP classes would you miss out on?
Where did you get this information? My private university gave me credit for college classes I took while I was in high school, so you shouldn’t assume it won’t happen. Specifically, Pomona has the following policy for transfer credit ([source](http://catalog.pomona.edu/content.php?catoid=7&navoid=410)):
Unless I’m missing something, it looks like you could get credit for two classes.
