OK, so I had planned on taking French 1A for my first quarter, despite my previous years in the language, I just wanted a fresh start and whatnot. Therefore, I didn't take a placement test.

Now, French 1A is full, I've read I need to TAKE a placement test, and I don't know how to find out when or where I can do that. Am I totally screwed for taking French this year?

I don't know much about it, but when I went to Humanities Transfer Advising, they said that the only languages you need to take placements for are for East Asian languages. I don't think you should have to take one for French...but I'm not sure so it's definitely best to contact the department directly.

yeah, i read something about it. they recommend you to take the placement test for french but its not mandatory for french. they put you based on you prior knowledge of french from high school. or something like that.

sweet. i'd probably fail the test anyways. i'm going to take 1b just because 1a is full, and i figure 10 years of french half-heartedly taken should amount to 1b.
