Taking physics at a community college over the summer?

Other threads about this say that it looks really bad. But what if physics isn't a degree requirement for you? I'm a CS major, and so its not required...but they do want 8 units of "science" and physics is one of the options (plus it seems like a good background to have?), so I thought I could do it over the summer. Would this still look bad?

I’m a chem major and I did this for physics 2. I don’t know if it looks bad, but it helped me learn the material more thoroughly, definitely, and without having to spend 1000s on living expenses over the summer.

Why would taking any class over the summer look bad? That makes no sense.

Be very careful to make sure it will count towards your degree. Some selective colleges are very fussy about accepting community college classes, particularly if they have not approved the credit in advance.

I am planing to take physics at a cc, but it is for high school reasons. I think you should take it at a cc. I looked at the programs at cc and it seems to me that in my area the classes are easy.

It is approved by my school. I was reading in the premed forum how you shouldnt take physics at ccs over the summer because it looks really bad, but maybe thats just a premed thing (which Im not). I wouldn’t mind taking physics here, because its supposed to be not that bad, maybe even easy, whereas taking it over the summer is a huge time commitment (not sure how hard the class is).

Basically taking it over the summer would give me something productive to do over the summer, since I dont have a job, and would free up my schedule quite a bit. I just dont want to do anything I regret if its going to be viewed better to have just taken it at school :/

I’m in ME and I’m taking Physics 2 at a CC over the summer.

And Intro to Philosophy over the internet

That’s totally a pre-med thing (med schools are crazy…). I took orgo over the summer for similar reasons, and it was fine since I’m not pre-med.

It shouldn’t look bad at all. If anything, it will look like you at least did something with your summer, which is far better than doing nothing.
