Taking Physics at a CC

I'm currently a freshman pre-med right now at Stanford, but I am from southern California. Right now my schedule makes it fairly difficult for me to take physics during the normal school year.

I was wondering if it would be ok to take the physics pre-req at a CC during the summer? I don't want to take it at Stanford during the summer because it costs too much money and I want to be close to home, and I'd prefer not to have to go to a UC because of the commute I would have to do everyday to go to class.

My pre-med counselor said that taking physics at a CC isn't a big deal, but I saw some posts here that said otherwise. Is it ok for me to take it at a CC or am I better off going to summer school at a UC (either UCI, UCR or UCLA).

One of our former posters (a CC student himself) looked into it and told us that he discovered that some medical schools would not accept any prerequisite coursework done at a community college. More important, you can imagine that others are not particularly fond of it. (One other poster, offended at this notion, inadvertently confirmed this on one medical school's website as well.)
