Hi everyone! I’m finishing up my first year at BC and I remember checking this thread about a year ago to find answers to my questions about everything BC. I’m a student in the Lynch School of Education and I have friends from many different majors. I would love to help you out with any questions about Boston College that you may have!

I applied to transfer to BC next fall as a junior majoring in communications. Do you know anything about the comm department? Or the adjustment for transfers?

Hi elephant9! That’s awesome that you’re thinking of transferring to BC I have friends who are majoring in the communications department, and they’ve really enjoyed their experience so far. Communications is a big department at BC, so you’ll definitely have an opportunity to meet a lot of friends in your classes! I also know a few upperclassmen who transferred, and they seem to have adjusted very well. Especially because of the housing situation at BC, you tend to meet new people every year no matter what your situation. For example, I have yet to meet half my class because we live in different areas of campus, so next year (and the years after that), I’ll continue to meet new people! Good luck in your decisions and let me know if you have any more questions :)

Hello. I’m finishing the ResLife part on my agora portal. There is a MLEP(multicultural leadership experience program) program in the special interest housing that I’m interested in. I want to take this program but some of the seniors told me that the program is just endlessly occupying your free time.
Can you offer some perspective? Thanks.

Hey, I’m wondering about BC’s rescind policy, I’m not saying this because I want to slack-off, but because I’m afraid I’m in legitimate jeopardy. So, if you had any information, it would be great.
My most probably end of the year grades/classes are:
Leadership-Tech A
Pre-Internship A
AP English Lit B
AP Macro-Econ B
Physics C
AP Calculus BC D
I’m worried that the D in AP Calc will cause me to be rescinded let me know if you have any information!

Hey pinewu! Thinking about all the options to get involved at BC is such an exciting process The pros of special interest housing are that you get a unique floor experience and you get to live on upper (which is generally the preferred part of campus!) However, they are definitely a big commitment. I would suggest finding out the specific details about joining MLEP before making a decision. If you then decide that you’re definitely interested in taking the opportunity, I would definitely suggest it! That program sounds really eye-opening, and you have nothing to lose (especially when you’re guaranteed upper!) I found a blog about it here [Eagle’s Eye World View…a Boston College International Student Blog: Multicultural Leadership Experience (MLE)](http://bc-sap-international.blogspot.com/2010/03/multicultural-leadership-experience-mle.html), which I think may be of help to you if you haven’t already seen it! Definitely consider the nature of the commitment before making your decision, and you should be good to go! Good luck :)

Hi CaliSun! I have never heard of anyone being rescinded from Boston College, so I assume that this isn’t a common occurrence. If I were you, however, I would call student services because they’re often very helpful with these types of questions and can probably give you a more specific description of their rescind policy. Your grades look adequate, but you might want to either raise your grade in AP Calc or possibly have your guidance counselor send BC a note explaining your grade if you feel as though this may be cause for concern. Otherwise, I think that you’ll be all set as long as you try your best and are proactive to ensure that BC is aware of your intent to improve your grade to the best of your abilities! Good luck and hope this helps!

Thanksss~~The blog provides some views and you give me a general picture. I’m considering whether to go for it, and I wrote an email to placement@bc.edu asking for specific problems I’m concerned with. I’m definitely interested in it, and the experience would really be an eye-opener, but I just want to know more about it before I reach a decision. At least it’s even before May,1st so I have some time to research.
If it’s worth it, I would make whatever commitment.

Calisun:

There is much written on this subject with plenty of evidence that many colleges do take slacking off seriously. I doubt anyone on CC will be able to tell you exactly what BC’s current criteria and threshold is for tearing up your acceptance.

One particular thread on CC is at: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ask-dean-topics/903319-when-do-colleges-rescind-acceptances.html

Why would you let a Calculus grade drop to a D or Physics drop to a C? The BC admissions office has several thousand high school seniors with an academic profile just like yours (the kind you had when they admitted you) that they’d love to admit if they could. Why give BC any reason this spring to look at you and say “I guess we made a mistake here.”
