Taking the SAT too many times?

I’m Class of 2017- I will be taking my third SAT this Saturday to improve my 2190. However, I did fairly well on the PSAT, and I think I could do well on the new SAT when it comes out.

Can I still take the new SAT even though I have taken three SATs already? Will this look bad on my college app or will it be okay since some colleges require that I take the new one?

Thanks

Yes, you can, and in my opinion the belief that students should never take it more than three times is a myth.

You can use score choice to only send your best score to the colleges you apply to. Some schools, however, do not allow score choice (e.g. Yale, Stanford, Duke, UPenn, Cornell, etc.) and want all your test scores.

As for taking the old vs. new SAT, you’re fine. I would say 4 or more testings is a bit pushing it, but if you believe that the extra testing will help your score, go ahead. There is more to your application than your test scores, and while taking the test many times might not be looked upon highly at schools that require all your scores, it will not be the sole determinant of your decision.

Just on the side,
Will it look bad if my SAT score goes down this third time? I’m really hoping to score above 2200, but I havent had much time to study and the room for error is minimal. Should I wait to see the discussions after I take the test to see how I did and decide whether or not to cancel, or will I be okay if I just keep whatever score?
