My high school offers about 20 AP's, and obviously there's no way I could fit all those in 10-12th grade. But, if I take 2 in 10th grade, 4 in 11th grade, and 4-5 in 12th grade would that be considered toughest courseload? 2 is the maximum number my school scheduling permits in 10th grade and 4 is the maximum in 11th grade, however in 12th grade it would be theoretically possible for me to take 6 or more AP's. But wouldn't that be like academic suicide, especially if I would hope to get all 5's? Thanks in advance!

The toughest courseload means taking the most your school permits/more than your peers are able to take. If your peers are taking a lot less than you, obviously your counselor will consider you taking the most challenging courseload.

My school offered nearly the same amount of APs and I ended up taking 1 in 10th, 2 in 11th, and 7 in 12th. 12th wasn't that hard to be honest, but I got the first B I had ever gotten so it destroyed my 4.0. In the end, I think it was worth it.

IMO what you're planning on taking is just fine. You have it spread out nicely and if you think you can manage that, go for it. Just maintain your GPA.

well, there might be like ten out of four hundred kids in my grade taking the same number in 12th grade. (thirty take 2 in 10th grade, and less taking 4 in 11th grade) would that be toughest then?

Well, the toughest would be if you were the only one taking that many, but I'd say if only 10 out of 400 take that many, you're taking close enough to the toughest. Make sure you get a 4.0 and beat the rest of the suckas with the same schedule as you.

toughest courseload generally includes taking the hardest of several options. Lets suppose your school requires a year of US History. You could take regular history, the honors class, or the AP class. The toughest would be the AP. For electives it would mean taking an academic class instead of a shop class, perhaps an AP.

This is a question for your guidance counselor, who makes the decision of what to check off on your recommendation form. No one here can answer it definitively.

chedva is correct. Ask your GC if 4-5 APs senior year will still earn "Most Challening curriculum."
