Tales Of Prep School College Counseling

What is a D3, D1 or nescac school?

D1 = Division 1 universities which can award athletic scholarships. D3 = Division 3 schools which cannot award athletic scholarships, but often give generous financial aid & admission preference to recruited athletes. NESCAC = is an acronym for an athletic conference of small Division 3 schools in New England.

NESCAC=New England Small College Athletic Conference. Includes Amherst, Williams, Middlebury, Wheaton, and others.

What sport does your son play and what school does he go to? Ya I've noticed for A/E websites that they almost always send their star bballers to Ivies if they want to go.

Wheaton is not in the NESCAC.

New England Small College Athletic Conference

Correction noted. I wasn't certain when I wrote that; just thinking off the top of my head the colleges that my son's school tends to move the athletes (as well as non-athletes) towards....I know it is mainly NESCAC and I know a couple of kids who've gone to Wheaton recently for their sport, so I just stuck it in there.
