@Gator88NE Virginia Tech uses a holistic approach as well. https://vtnews.vt.edu/articles/2017/01/personalizing_uged_applications_with_zeemee.html
@sevmom Yep, but how “holistic” will it be? In the past, they “consider” these factors, but GPA/Test scores where still far more important. That could be changing (CDS info is always a year behind admissions), I’m sure reading through the accepted/not accepted thread in the VT forum would prove informative.
A student who goes to any school, can land a job anywhere. It’s just that smaller companies with limited budgets tend to recruit locally. Thus, a student who wants to live in Texas for example, might find a few Texas companies recruiting at VT, Illinois, etc., but they will find far more at a Texas school. A student will have to work harder if they want to uncover lots of opportunities in a specific region distant from where they attend school, even if that school is MIT or Stanford.
Plenty of kids (and parents) complaining on the VT admissions threads and forum about their kid being rejected or waitlisted or not being placed in their first choice major ( engineering for instance) with very high stats . Virginia Tech has been more holistic for quite some time.
Thank you for your responses.
