D going for 6 weeks and hoping for some input for her (she has never done a summer music program) on what to expect, and what to bring that might not be mentioned in the official info....
thanks,

Unless the cafeteria food has gotten a lot better over the past several years, bring enough money to eat in Lenox as often as possible.

Yikes! I don’t think I will mention that to D…with the expense involved, she will have to make due as much as possible!
thanks,

If you hope to take your daughter out to dinner at any time during the summer (drop off, pick up, after a recital), go online and make reservations now on opentable.com. There are a number of interesting restaurants in Lenox and the surrounding towns but they all book up weeks or months in advance, especially when popular Tanglewood events are happening. Also, BUTI changed its food plan last summer, with input from BU’s school of nutrition, and it did improve from the previous year.

Gosh, I guess we were lucky - never made reservations and managed to get seats every time we were in town. But we were eating quite early - just after the orchestra’s afternoon concert and with plenty of time to bring the kids back to see whatever was on in the evening.

When D went, anyone in the dorm with a laptop and netflix account was very popular. And after she got locked out of her room during a shower, D asked us to send a bathrobe…

OK, got it - so far: lots of bug spray & umbrella, robe, she is bringing her laptop and uses our Netflix acct., so she is looking ‘golden’ so far! and I will look into Open Table…as we will be at a B & B for the final wk of camp, we expect to be eating out quite a bit! We also have some friends in Lenox, who will have us in & take us out…
thanks - just love the input!

Hmm, I don’t know when the cafeteria food improved last year, in time for last year’s festival or after the summer? It was pretty bad last summer. D plans to eat out in Lenox whenever possible.
