TASP reflections?

I am a rising junior and am immensely interested in the TASP program. I love the thought of the stretching of my intellectual boundaries and would love to know more about TASP before application time approaches. Any reflections of TASP alumni? Anything I should know before applying? Application tips?

All right, so I have rambled on about the insanely intense and life-changing experience that TASP is so many times that I will try to be brief:

1.) Unless you go to a really, really great high school (or are just a supergenius, even by TASP’s standards), the TASP seminar will probably be the most challenging academic experience of your life. However, it’s also an incredibly supportive environment–your fellow TASPers will probably help you through readings that you have trouble with, your factota will work with you on editing your papers, and your professors will (if they’re anything like mine) give you GREAT feedback on your work.

2.) You will feel prepared for college after TASP. Seriously.

3.) Telluride does not like neurotic people. (Well… for the most part, anyway.) You may, in your life, sometimes come across people just as smart as TASPers, but it is highly doubtful that they will be as cool.

4.) Unless you get sent to Cornell, the food will probably not be that great. But you won’t care.

5.) Every TASP is different, but every TASP is awesome. Mine was horrible at getting committee work done, usually didn’t finish papers until an hour or two before the deadline, and had a weird obsession with bubble tea. Yours will be different, but I guarantee you will love it.

Thanks =]
I hate neurotic people so it’s perfect!
But wow it sounds amazing. How hard were the application essays?

TASP refllection? 25 DAYS YESSSS!!!

Okay I’m excited. Haha

Which TASP are you going to? aka where?

Ut austin!!

boinkkk: The application essays can actually be fun if you write them about things that you’re passionate about. One of mine included a discussion on the spiritual side of vegetarianism. My critnal was basically me bashing the concept of dichotomy using 100 Years of Solitude to back up my arguments. It was awesome! Don’t try to choose topics that you think sound really intellectual–just pick something that fascinates you and write about it intellectually. :)
