because we suck at life. oyyyyyy.

Hey guys, hang in there. Picture the awesome seminars...and push on!

Oh yeah and is anyone else (who already sent their's in) reading it now and seeing that you basically suck at writing?

Because I am...:(

I just submitted mine (Cornell I 1, UT-Austin 2). I can't look at the confirmation sheet; I know I'll find a mistake.

How long are everyone's seminar topic responses? ie, for my last choice seminar, I only wrote like 2 sentences. Ie: I don't like this aspect. But I like this other aspect. Let me in. The end.

If I could guess, I'd say they don't even really use the seminar choice question for admissions, except maybe to determine your enthusiasm level. It's probably mostly for divvying up the kids who are accepted.

LOL, I made several, especially since I typed out most of them when I was pretty tired.

But due to the sheer brilliance of my astounding essays, a few grammar mistakes will in no way affect my chances.

j/k =)

hey, is it due in before mid night of thursday or what...cuz i havent finished...:(

LOL pleasedontspam. I'm in Asia (I think you are too maybe if I remember correctly?) so I'm figuring that given the time difference/daylight savings time, I have till 12:59pm my time to finish

Educational Plans: One page.
Booklist: One page.
Analysis: Two pages.
Problem from a field: Two pages.
Conflict: Two pages.
Preferences: One and a half pages...

This is all Times New Roman 12 font single spaced.

And er... I haven't looked at mine since I sent them off. I'm too scared ><. I know I won't like my analysis; I didn't like that one much while I was writing it... And I don't know what I'll think of my future education one, because I wrote that one more formally than the others and then tried to fix it to not look like an annoying prick XD.

My conflict one was great, although I wish I'd had more space... And I don't know how they'll take to me calling my friend's boyfriend "he of the ugly hair". My specific problem one was brilliant; hopefully they don't find it too lecture-y/research-y >__<.

Time to pull out "6" essays in the next 5 hours. Everyone wish me luck.

Godspeed, amievil.

I have about one left (half of analysis, half of issue) and I'm basically hyperventilating. Question: 11:59 EST or 11:59 whatever time you are?

I live in EST so I'll get it done by 11:59 EST either way.

The whole ordeal doesn't sound as bad as I might've made it out to be; for the conflicts essay, I've already written up [half] a draft for a speech I'm making. As for the literary analysis, I just happened to have read Plato over the weekend. And for the essay regarding the problems in society, well, in this day and age, there's so many matters to discuss; the hardest part is choosing one.

I also type at circadian 150 W/s. I've been through this trail many times.

hm...if we do get an interview...exactly where is it? do they come to us or vice versa?

It will be at the interviewer's discretion; probably at his/her residence or place of work. They will contact you first, of course, and then you can work out the details.

Would anyone recommend writing about a controversial issue for the topic essay? I'm not sure if I should send it in. It's about my views on the war on Iraq/terrorism. I actually knew an 18-year-old man who was a Marine and died in the war and it's about how that's affected my viewpoint on war and then I expanded it to include my opinion on all war.

Yes/No?

Please respond ASAP! Thanks! =]

Really, I think supporting or opposing the war isn't quite as controversial anymore as you might think. Besides, academia as a whole tends to fall of the left side of politics, so I'd think you would be find.

There are billions of "problems" to write about. Most of them aren't too controversial.

Does nothing else interest you enough?

Well it's just that this is something I feel strongly about, something that really makes me who I am.

I'm trying to think of a problem that isn't considered "controversial" in the sense that it has multiple sides. It seems like anything worth defending or writing two pages about would have to be controversial.

I'm not saying people should right about Hitler in a positive light, but there's controversial in the sense that it inspires debate (good) and controversial in the sense that it's taboo (see Hitler example).

It would require an extreme amount of selective memory and obfuscation of the truth to write about Hitler in a postive light.

Addendum: Two more essays.
