I hear about people doing the Telluride Association Summer Program on CC all the time. What is it exactly? It seems pretty prestigious, which is why I was wondering. Does it have anything to do with the Telluride House?

The central organization, the Telluride Association, runs TASP and the Telluride houses at Cornell and Michigan. More info is available on its website.

Hi Maguo1 - yes, it's pretty prestigious! My D was one of only 86 GLOBALLY that got in - the invite comes from the PSAT scores. You can attend either between your sophomore/junior year (TASS) or your junior/senior year (TASP). She truly had the time of her life, although it is quite intensive, and you get zero college credit. Her TASP was at the University of Texas, Austin and was on Violence and War in Storytelling or something to that effect. She absolutely loved the set-up of the house, and the fact that it was run democratically. It was a 6-week program, and although she gave up an immersion trip to Spain because of conflicting dates, she felt it was the best decision she has ever made. Because of TASP, she applied to UMich, and the Telluride House, and got in to both, so she is definitely going there, although she has yet to hear from Berkeley and Stanford. The people she met there are some of the most intellectually stimulating people she has ever been around, and she felt really at home with them all. She keeps in touch with them still, and they are all doing amazing things with their lives. Hope that helps explain it somewhat, although the changes it made in her on a personal level are entirely too hard to accurately describe!

Ah, so decisions have been made? I suppose that means I did not make the cut. Oxford it is then!

edit: Just a correction to MomofThree's description: while invites are sent by PSAT scores, one does not need the invite to apply. Anyone can grab an application of the website, provided he/she is a junior.
