TASS 2016!!!

@notoriousrbg You should already know a lot about current events if you regularly watch the news and read articles. You can use real-world examples in classroom essays without searching on the Internet. That’s why I said to write the essays off previous knowledge. I agree that it is a persuasive essay and that you need specific examples, but you don’t need to do any additional research.

this app is stressing me out

The deadline is approaching fast! Has everyone finished their essays?

I finished a couple of days ago. Ugggh! I can’t wait for March.

I turned mine in yesterday night. Ready for two months of nervousness…

Phew. Just submitted my app. I did the whole thing last minute so I’m not feeling too confident. My top choice by far is Cornell I. Good luck to us all!

@Brownnnnnnn Haha well, I’m still working on mine. I’ll probably end up turning it in tomorrow night, knowing me  Best of luck to everyone!

@pielovereternal Don’t worry, you’ll be fine :smiley:

Phew just finished the application! Was it okay to leave the last thing blank? I didn’t really have any discrepancies in my grades or anything

I finally submitted! Yes! I was having some issues with the character limit–it said I had 20 characters left, but when I tried to move to the next page it said I was 80 characters over, so I had a mad rush to downsize the essays…

But yay! Good luck to everyone in the next period of anticipation…

This whole experience was so new to me. Even if I don’t make it in, I found out a lot about what I truly believe. I think that is more important to me. I want to attend so badly though. :((
I entirely restarted one of my essays tonight because I just didn’t like the way it was going. Almost cost me my whole application because I had less than a minute to turn it in. Oops.

When do decisions come out? I hate the anticipation :frowning: 8-X

Interview selections come out the first week of March and actual program decision come out the last week of April. @Brownnnnnnn

@Hamlon I feel the same way; having to really dig deep and analyze myself and write such challenging essays really taught me a lot. In fact here’s a work in progress, for people’s enjoyment:

Same here! I rewrote one and finished another one starting from zero in yesterday. Lessons learnt.

I honestly just want it to be March already. Does anyone know what the interviews will be like if we do get in?

Wait I noticed that TASS and TASP both take place in the same colleges. Do students in both programs dorm together? This doesn’t matter at all but I’m just curious.

@Brownnnnnnn No, I don’t think so–I read some of the older forums and it talks about programs living in separate houses. Also, each program per college would have at least 20-30 people so 50-60 kids in one house seems like a lot

Reading other TASS forums, some say that if chosen for an interview you’ll be interviewed by 2 or 3 people. They ask questions mostly about your essays and books and other topics related to those factors. @notoriousrbg

I’ve literally been checking this thread obsessively bc I’m so nervous for march–just to keep this thread alive, what did y’all write about?
