TASS 2017

Thank you!

Hey y’all, I just found out about this program today (like today today) and I really want to go to Cornell II, but do you think it’s even worth the effort? I obviously can’t get in because my essays will be terrible (I’ve written maybe 600 words so far for all the prompts put together). Should I give up now ??? Or does someone want to help me write my essays ???

@ham4greys I would definitely encourage you to apply. It’s a great opportunity, and you never know unless you try. I finished all of my essays in two days. It takes a few hours to actually start writing, but after you get started, it goes a lot quicker. So, at least try. I don’t usually go on this site a lot, but if you want to swing some ideas by me, I’m open to that.

@ham4greys Apply, apply, apply!! I’ve finished my essays and even though you’re pressed for time, you’ll be suprised how much you can write about. I’d be open to helping you out, if you’d like!

Thanks so much y’all! I’m almost done with #2 and #3, but I have no idea how to start #1, which I feel like is the most important one. Any ideas?

@DJ01 @Starstone142

@ham4greys Just be yourself! I struggled with #1 a lot too, because, at first, I didn’t know what to write, and afterwards, I wanted to write too much, and now its just an unorganized clump of information. I would suggest listing why you want to go to TASS and some interesting information about yourself, and trying to summarize your answer in a few sentences. Then, make an outline or something before writing. I always find that to be very helpful.

@ham4greys I’ve always found free writng on a topic helps get any ideas I have flowing. So maybe start typing up anything that comes to your mind, and then as you edit it you can give it more focus? I would start, though, by looking at things that make TASS interesting to you and charactersitics about you as a person.

Hi everyone, I’m new to this thread. I just finished essay #1 and #2, and I saved #3 (the hardest one for me) for last. What is/was the hardest essay for everyone else to write?

Hardest for me is #1. For the book/media list, is it like a list of things you actually like or a list of things that will make you seem smart/sophisticated? Like I love Grey’s Anatomy but I feel like that’s not a very impressive answer to the question

@ham4greys As long as you can explain why each piece of media is important to you/ inspires you, anything will work. If you can spin Grey’s Anatomy in a way that makes it an important part of your life than it shouldn’t be a problem.

Ugh. I’m also stuck on #3. It was the toughest one for me! @futuredoctoryang

Just submitted my application so now the wait begins. :-S [-O<

Just submitted my application! Good luck to the rest of you!

Submitted! Now the hard part begins… :-SS

Just submitted my application and I hope it’s good enough. Good luck to all applicants!

submitted!

I just saw this thread, but good luck to everyone who applied! Submitted mine last night at 11:58 PM :-SS

I submitted my application two nights ago and I’m really nervous. Good luck to anyone else that applied, (I wish I would’ve found this thread sooner :-< ).

I get so nervous every time I think about my application. I wonder if this is what it feels like when applying to colleges (to a lesser extent, of course). If you don’t mind telling, what were your essays about?
